Current Responsibilities
Daniel L. Goodwin is Chairman and CEO of The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc. headquartered on a 28 acre campus in Oak Brook, Illinois. The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc. is comprised of separate real estate investment and financial companies with managed assets in excess of $20 billion, doing business nationwide with a presence in 44 states. With 35 years of experience in real estate investment, commercial real estate brokerage, real estate securities, land development, construction, and mortgage banking and lending, Inland is one of the nation’s largest commercial real estate organizations.
Mr. Goodwin is also Chairman of the Board of Inland Real Estate Corporation, a public real estate investment trust which trades its shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “IRC”.
In addition, Mr. Goodwin is Chairman of the Board of Inland Bancorp, a multi-bank holding company whose subsidiaries include residential and commercial mortgage companies, alternative real estate loan companies and full service banks.
Career Summary
Housing & Real Estate Development
Mr. Goodwin has been in the housing industry for more than 35 years, and has demonstrated a lifelong interest in housing related issues. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Illinois Association of Realtors and the Northern Illinois Commercial Association of Realtors. He has developed thousands of housing units in the Midwest, New England, Florida, and the Southwest. He is also the author of a nationally recognized real estate reference book for the management of residential properties. Mr. Goodwin has served for 10 years on the Board of the Illinois State Affordable Housing Trust Fund (IHDA). He was an advisor for the Office of Housing Coordination Services of the State of Illinois, and was a founding member of the Illinois State Affordable Housing Conference. He also served as Chairman of the DuPage County Affordable Housing Task Force. Mr. Goodwin currently serves as Chairman of the non-profit New Directions Housing Corporation, which provides affordable housing in the Midwest.
Education
A product of Chicago-area elementary and high schools, Mr. Goodwin obtained his Bachelor’s Degree and his Master’s Degree from Illinois state universities. Following graduation, he taught for five years in the Chicago Public Schools. He has served as a member of the Board of Governors of Illinois State Colleges and Universities, and served for 10 years as the Chairman of Northeastern Illinois University. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Benedictine University.
Mr. Goodwin continued his commitment to education through his work with the BBF Family Services’ Pilot Elementary School in Chicago, and the funding and development of the Inland Vocational Training Center for the Handicapped located at Little City in Palatine, Illinois. Mr. Goodwin established an endowment which funds a perpetual college scholarship program for inner-city disadvantaged youth and he also instituted a program to educate disabled students in the workplace.
